Our facility is complete with six private consulting rooms, one minor procedures room, an allied health room and a pathology collecting centre. Our convenient location is opposite the Point Clare Railway Station Car Park. We have car parking spaces at the rear of our building as well as wheelchair and pram access.
Antenatal care is recommended to prevent potential problems during pregnancy. GPs at Point Clare can provide you with a Shared Care approach to your antenatal care together with your midwife or obstetrician. This allows for flexibility and continuous comprehensive care for you and your baby during your pregnancy and beyond.
Women’s physical and emotional health needs are broad and complex. There are many female GPs at Point Clare who have an interest in providing advice and support on a variety of health topics specifically relevant to women. Our services include but are not limited to;
- Breast checks
- Cervical Screening Checks (previously pap smear)
- Contraception advice – including some device insertion and removal
- Menopause management
- Menstrual disorders
- Mental health – Most GPs at Point Clare Medical Practice have participated in additional training to facilitate domestic violence support for women in our community.
- Pregnancy – from fertility and pre-pregnancy planning, antenatal care, and post-partum care
- Sexual health screening and check-ups
Mens health is a high priority, particularly because men and boys seek medical advice less frequently than women. At Point Clare Medical Practice we have male and female GPs interested in supporting men at various stages of their lives to improve men’s health outcomes. Our services include but are not limited to;
- Erectile dysfunction
- Heart disease, diabetes and other chronic disease management
- Mental health
- Prostate disorders including cancer and benign prostate disorders
- Sexual health screening and check-ups
Childrens health and baby checks
Childrens health checks are opportunities for GPs and parents to monitor growth and development, milestones and provide immunisation against important communicable diseases. The GPs at Point Clare Medical Practice provide ‘blue-book’ checks and neonatal care. They also provide advice regarding the early stages of parenthood including breastfeeding assistance, sleep and settling strategies, infant growth, and advice about ‘fussy’ babies. The GPs can assess and treat common childhood illnesses, asthma, heart murmurs, ear infections, allergic disease, bed wetting, learning difficulties, developmental problems, as well as child and adolescent mental health problems.
A comprehensive range of immunisations are available for all ages at Point Clare Medical Practice. This includes all immunisations recommended by NSW Health as part of the Childhood Immunisation Schedule and all the seasonal vaccinations including influenza, pneumococcal and covid. We can also provide travel vaccinations (except for Yellow Fever).
Sexual health is an important part of healthcare for men, women and adolescents. The GPs at Point Clare Medical Practice provide sexual health check-ups for all members of our community with a non-judgemental, evidence based framework for screening, diagnosing and treating various sexually transmitted illnesses. The GPs know that advocating for sexual health as part of our comprehensive care empowers people and encourages them to make positive decisions about their sexual health.
Skin cancer checks and Management
The Doctors at Point Clare can perform full skin cancer checks which take 15min. They are qualified to diagnose and treat all forms of skin cancer, with surgical or non-surgical management.

Travel advice and travel vaccination
(Excluding Yellow Fever)
Make sure your travels are safe as well as fun with a Pre-Travel appointment. The Doctors can discuss with you any vaccinations recommended for your destination as well as any individual preventative health issues.
All Health Assessments
Health assessments are a great way to care for your health in a comprehensive and holistic way. The nurses and doctors work together to offer a number of yearly checks including; Over 75 Health Assessments, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health checks, 45-49yo at risk of chronic disease health checks as well as assessments of those with an intellectual disability or refugees.
Health Assessments are covered by Medicare (no out-of-pocket expense for the patient).
Chronic Disease Management
Chronic disease management is what General Practitioners do best. Your GP is highly skilled in this area and the coordination of your care with other health practitioners. It is important to make regular appointments to keep track of your chronic disease – even when you feel well.
Your GP is best placed to inform you if you are eligible for a Chronic Disease Management Plan. This working document helps you and your GP set goals, monitor progress, and keep track of other providers you may need to see.
Chronic illnesses include Diabetes, Heart Disease, Chronic lung disorders (asthma, COPD), Kidney disease, cancers, and many more.
Telehealth is still available for current patients. It may be appropriate if you have a respiratory illness or are caring for someone. We do encourage face-to-face appointments where possible as this allows a more thorough medical assessment. The cost of a telehealth appointment is the same as the face to face appointment.
Focussed respiratory clinics
The Doctors at PCMP have continued to provide face-to-face appointments to people with cold and flu symptoms to allow timely physical assessment. They do this by offering appointments in our “respiratory clinic” which runs daily for 3 hrs. Patients book these appointments by phone (no online booking for this clinic). Upon arrival patients wait in their car until the Doctor calls them into the back room of the clinic for the consultation. Payment is made over the phone as this ensures no one with respiratory symptoms will be in the waiting room, thus decreasing risk of viral spread to other, possibly vulnerable, patients.
Also working in the building are some exceptional allied health providers.
Their location on site leads to improved communication between these practitioners and your doctor.

Your Physio Advantage
Our appointments are scheduled to be 15 minutes in duration. If you require a longer appointment due to a complex issue or you have more than one problem that needs addressing, please inform our receptionist and include whether the appointment is for more than one person. For your first appointment, we recommend you schedule a longer appointment.
Appointment reminders are sent out electronically to your mobile phone prior to your appointment.
Point Clare Medical Practice values your time and strives to stay on schedule. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know in advance. We apologise in advance for emergency delays that prolong your waiting time. Please inform the receptionist upon arrival to your appointment if you require urgent attention.
Our books have always remained open to residents living between Koolewong and West Gosford and we pride ourselves on continuing to serve our local community.
Results for tests ordered by the doctors at our practice are best discussed at a follow-up consultation which can be made by reception at the end of your appointment. It is important to discuss the most appropriate method of getting these results with the doctor at the time of the consultation.
In order to ensure an uninterrupted supply of your medications it is important to check with your GP at each consultation to ensure you have enough prescriptions to last until the next appointment. Pharmacies usually advise you if you have just filled the last repeat and that is an excellent opportunity to contact the practice for an appointment so your doctor can review the ongoing prescription of that medication and make sure it’s still right for you.
If, for unforeseen circumstances, you run out of a particular prescription, you should contact the practice and the reception staff may be able to offer you a “5 min telephone script consultation” with your regular GP. There is a small fee associated with this.
